re: contax t2/p&s cameras

amart I haven’t heard of the pentax uc-1, read a few reviews just now though and it looks pretty nice?

acekieffer (and locationiseverything) I’ve been super unhappy the autofocus on both of the t2’s I’ve used. it seems like it can never pick out the subject, primarily in low light, and especially when using flash (which, for better or for worse, is mostly what I’ve been shooting). I haven’t really tried the manual focus, but with a camera that’s supposed to be this nice, I kind of feel like I shouldn’t have to? also, it feels like a really precious camera, I kind of like having a cheap plastic body camera because I’m not as worried about it getting bumped around.

my favorite point & shoot I’ve used to date is still my first yashica t4, I rarely had issues with the autofocus failing, but it started rewinding film mid-roll, which became a huge nuisance and waste of film. the same issues happened again, with the second t4 I got as well, so I’m hesitant to try another.

I’m re-remembering that I really don’t like using my contax t2. photo friends, tell me about secretly awesome 35mm point & shoots that are worth tracking down? I’ve used a pile (t4’s, various olympus stylus epics, olympus xa/xa2’s) but they all have their shortcomings. I’d be down to do a camera trade if anyone has a camera I might like better?
